WSP Deployment Error

The force flag shouldn’t be your friend, but it is.

I was deploying a solution on a farm with three web front ends.  The solution consistently succeeded on two of the web front ends, but it failed on the other.

Event logs and SharePoint logs on the failing web front end did not give any additional information.  I went to the command line and ran stsadm.exe –o DeploySolution, which creates the timer job, so I went back to the UI to check the status—same results.  When I ran DeploySolution with the –force flag,it successfully deployed.

Dat’s nice!
